COMMUNITY OF MISCOUCHE
Special Council Meeting
October 16th, 2017

1. OPENING MEETING
Chairperson Ivan Blanchard called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Present:

Ivan Blanchard – Chairperson
John Gillis – Councilor
Robin Gillis- Councilor
Pat MacLellan – Councilor
Ricky Myers- Councilor
Michelle Perry- Administrator
Joan Arsenault – Councilor (Absent)

2. Amalgamation: Ivan was speaking with MLA Sonny Gallant about setting up a meeting to meet with Linkletter, St Nicholas and A few members from Lot 16 to talk about Amalgamation, there will be no decisions made on it and it would be just an information session. After a lot of discussion about this some councilor’s feel that this will not be a good idea, as what are they going to tell these communities when they ask what Miscouche can offer them if they amalgamate. It was advised that it would be just to see what these other communities feel about this, and that there will be no decisions made. Some council members made it quite clear that they think that if the government wants this to happen then they should be setting up the meeting with these communities not the Miscouche setting it up for them. At the end of the night it was decided that it might be beneficial to talk to these communities to see what there thoughts are.
