Special Meeting Sewer Increase
September 1st, 2021

1. OPENING MEETING
Mayor Albert Gallant called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.

Mayor Albert opened the meeting and thanked everyone that came out. He advised that the community is looking on increasing the sewer rates by $40.00 a year over the next 5 years. This will cover some of the cost that has been associated with the Sewer. The annual maintenance is budgeted at $50,000.00 a year and that does not leave room for and additional maintenance that would arise. The sewer increase will be presented to IRAC for approval in November of this year. It was also explained that the community has a major upgrade project of $3.2000,000.00 on the West Lagoon that the community has applied for and is waiting to hear if they have been approved for. This will bring that lagoon up to Federal and Provincial Standards. It was also explained that Council thought by putting the fee up gradually this will help alleviate a big increase at one time. It was also mentioned that council in the future can discuss billing the residents more frequently instead of just twice a year.
